Heat 1/2 jar Karo syrup sprinkled with 1 cup sugar. Do not stir until the sugar melts. (If it takes too long, push the sugar with a spoon.)

At this point the syrup is ready.

Beat 6 egg whites with 6 tablespoons sugar in a mixer until stiff. Make a very firm meringue.

Pour the hot syrup over the egg whites, beating constantly until cooled to lukewarm.
